Sartobind® membrane adsorbers (MA) for ion exchange chromatography are ready-to-use syringe filter type units. They all are based on the patented Sartobind® membrane that displays a microporous structure with pore size of > 3 µm. Ligands for ion exchange are bound covalently to the complete internal surface of the membrane, resulting in separation media of high binding capacity combined with very high flow rates. Binding of ion exchange ligands is very stable and allows many cycles of re-use without loss of binding capacity. Sartobind® MA units for ion exchange are available as strong or weak anion (Q and D) and strong cation (S) type and in three sizes between 15 cm2 and 100 cm2 membrane area, corresponding to static binding capacities between 12 mg and 80 mg protein per unit. Sartobind® MA units are equipped with standard Luer Lock connectors and can be run with HPLC or FPLC systems or even by hand with a syringe. The units with polysulfone housings are compatible with many solvents applied in chromatography and can be re-used > 100 times.
