Cookie Notice
Status: June 2022
This Cookie Notice applies to Sartorius websites or applications (each a Sartorius Online Offering).
1. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
In the context of Sartorius Online Offerings, web-browser-cookies and tracking technologies (“Cookies”) may be used.
1.1 Web-Browser-Cookies
A web browser cookie is a small text file sent from a website to your computer or mobile device where it is stored by your web browser. Web browser cookies may store information such as your IP address or other identifier, your browser type, and information about the content you display and interact with on the digital services. By storing such information, web browser cookies can store your preferences and settings for online services and analyze how you use online services.
1.2 Tracking Technologies: Web Beacons / Gifs, Pixels, Page Tags, Script
Emails and mobile applications can contain small, transparent image files or lines of code to record how you interact with them. This information is used to help website and app publishers better analyze and improve their services.
2. Categories
We distinguish between cookies that are necessary for the technical functions of the Sartorius Online Offerings and such cookies that are not necessary for these technical functions.
2.1 Essential
By essential cookies we mean cookies without which the technical provision of the online service cannot be ensured. These include e.g. cookies that enable you to move around the Sartorius Online Offering and use its features, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. Without these cookies, services requested through usage of our website cannot be properly provided.
Essential cookies do not require consent from the user under applicable law. You may configure your web browser to block strictly necessary cookies, but you might then not be able to use the website’s functionalities as intended.
To the extent that information processed in connection with essential cookies should qualify as personal data in a given case, the legal basis for that processing is legitimate interest of Sartorius to operate the Sartorius Online Offering.
2.2 Technically not required cookies
These cookies are only used if you have given us your prior consent in each case. The exception to this is the cookie that stores the current status of your privacy setting (selection cookie). This is set due to legitimate interest.
We divide these cookies into two sub-categories:
2.1.1 Functional Cookies
These cookies make it possible to analyze use of the Sartorius Online Offering to measure and analyze performance.
Functional cookies are not technically required for using a website. However, they perform important tasks which make surfing more convenient. For example, they allow the website to remember choices you make or information you enter (such as your username, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. They are also used to enable requested functions such as playing videos.
To the extent that information processed in connection with functional cookies should, in a given case, qualify as personal data, the legal basis for that processing is your consent.
These cookies also collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and how visitors move around the site. They help us to better understand a user’s behavior on our webpage. This is necessary to improve the user friendliness of a website and therefore enhance the user’s experience.
Further information collected by performance cookies may include e.g.: internet browser and operating system used, the domain name of the website which you previously visited, the number of visits, average duration of visit, and pages called up.
In general, the information collected by these cookies is aggregated and can normally not be linked to a specific natural person. However, in certain cases the collected information can be linked to you directly (provided you disclosed your identity to Sartorius, e.g., when creating an account or filing a request with us). To the extent that information processed in connection with performance cookies can, in a given case, be directly linked to you or otherwise qualifies as personal data, the legal basis for that processing is your user consent.
2.2.2 Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies (also referred to as targeting or advertising cookies) are used to deliver adverts on third party websites more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of an advertising campaign.
Legal basis for the processing of personal data in connection with marketing cookies (if any) is your consent.
3. Implemented Cookies
