Arium® Advance RO Lab Water Purification System
Reliably Remove Oxidants, Heavy Metal Ions and Particles from Feed Water
The Arium® Advance EDI and Arium® Advance RO systems achieve high retention rates of ions with an optimal water yield to remove impurities from your feed water.
The built-in iJust function also optimizes purified water quality and water usage. Pure water is stored and ready to be used in the innovative, closed Arium® Bagtank system, which protects water from secondary contamination.
Arium® Advance Product Line-up
Arium® Advance EDI
Reliable Electrodeionisation
The Arium® Advance EDI consistently provides high-quality ASTM Type 2 water. With a flow rate of 5 or 10 L/h, automatic reverse osmosis (RO) membrane backflush, iJust, the latest EDI technology and a constant flow rate, the Arium® Advance EDI is the ideal choice for general and demanding laboratory applications.
Arium® Advance RO
Reverse Osmosis System with iJust
The Arium® Advance RO provides high-quality Type 3 reverse osmosis water. With a flow rate of 8, 16 or 24 L/h, automatic RO membrane backflush and constant flow rate, the Arium® Advance RO is the optimal choice for general laboratory applications.
Arium® Bagtank
Gain time by using the unique Arium® Bagtank!
The revolutionary Arium® Bagtank stores Type 2 or reverse osmosis (RO) purified water reliably in your choice of 20, 50 or 100-liter disposable Arium® Bags and protects your purified water with its built-in filter system from secondary contamination.
Moreover, unlike typical laboratory water storage tanks, the disposable Arium® Bag is easy to exchange in less than five minutes, eliminating time-intensive cleaning with chemicals.
Specially designed for the pharmaceutical industry, this bag is made of high-quality S71 material and provides optimal storage conditions, thus ensuring consistent water quality over the long term.
Arium® Smart Station
A Flexible Solution for Dispensing Pure and Ultrapure Water
Laboratory space is often very valuable, especially when centralized laboratory water systems are required to dispense pure and ultrapure water for various applications. The Arium® Smart Station allows you to maximize lab space capabilities as the system adapts to your needs.
In addition to being economical in terms of its footprint, the Arium® Smart Station is flexible in regards to dispensing water. It gives users full control over quality parameters at the point of use and the ability to fill different sized containers with different flow rates at the same time across the lab.

Frequently Asked Questions
The difference is the produced product water quality. Arium® Advance RO produces reverse osmosis (RO) water while Arium® Advance EDI produces ASTM Type II, or pure water. The Arium® Advance EDI has an electrodeionizatoin (EDI) module integrated into the system in addition to the reverse osmosis module the Arium® Advance RO has. This allows the EDI version to produce higher quality water as well as consistent water quality. As the reverse osmosis module removes impurities to a certain percentage, its quality depends on the feed water and therefore is not consistent.
The Arium® Advance RO has 3 versions with 8, 16 or 24 L/h production flow rate, while the Arium® Advance EDI has 2 versions with 5 or 10 L/h. The different versions let you choose which system would be most suitable for you depending on water consumption. Your daily water consumption can also be covered with the right choice of Bagtank volume in combination with the Arium® Advance system.
As the production rate of the Arium® Advance system does not meet the required dispense rate (because of the purification techniques), you should combine the Arium® Advance system with a Bagtank. The Bagtank ensures a good dispense rate.
All Arium® Advance systems have the iJust feature integrated. iJust helps define the optimal ratio of product and wastewater for the reverse osmosis module. Usually it is a fixed ratio; however, the iJust feature can adjust the ratio depending on local hardness and CO2 level in the feed water. Better quality feed water leads to a higher ratio of product water compared to wastewater. iJust® also optimizes cleaning intervals for reverse osmosis (RO) modules, based on feed water quality.
The RO membrane may lose its properties with time as it gets scaled from calcium carbonate and blocked by other impurities in the feed water. To ensure proper operation over time, the RO membrane should be cleaned every 2-4 months, depending on feed water hardness (which is determined by the concentration of calcium carbonate among other minerals). The Arium® Advance also uses a backflushing process which helps to protect the RO membrane against scaling.
The reverse osmosis (RO) membrane is subject to scaling from calcium carbonate in the feed water. To reduce the possibility of scaling while the system is in stand-by (ECO-mode), the system uses a backflushing feature. The system flushes feed water out from the RO module with pretreated water. As a result, the RO membrane is then standing in pretreated water instead of feed water, reducing contact with calcium carbonate. The backflushing process can also be started manually.
The Smart Station Pure version is compatible with the Bagtank, which is connected to the Arium® Advance RO|EDI. The data connection is to the Arium® Advance unit, which allows full visibility of the quality values on the Smart Station as well. You can connect 1 Smart Station Pure to the Bagtank.
The following service options are available for the Arium® Advance systems: Installation, qualification (IQ/OQ), preventive maintenance and service contracts. You can have Sartorius trained and qualified engineers perform the installation for you and a qualification check (IQ/OQ) at the same time if needed. It is possible to sign service contracts for regular checks and consumable changes or have preventive maintenance or service visits as needed.
