Umetrics Suite installation program troubleshooting

The software listed in this article uses the same installation program technology. This article describes troubleshooting installation problems.

About the installation programs

To install the software you run the installation program executable file (.EXE extension). You need to be an administrator of the PC to install the software.

The installer executable launches a wizard which guides you through the installation. This article doesn't go into specifics for different software, but the knowledge base article for each release and the bundled instructions with the software contains the details.

Installation errors

If the setup process fails, it typically generates a short error message, but to be able to learn more you need to obtain the log files (see below).

Log files for troubleshooting

The full details of the installation process can be found in log files on the disk of the PC. These files are located in the temporary folder. To navigate to this folder, use File Explorer and type %temp% in its address bar.

Each installation has two log files, both with file names starting with Umetrics_ and ending with the .log extension:

  1. The installation executable's log file. It contains updates of shared components and launches the rest of the setup. Example name: Umetrics_SIMCA-Q_18_20240805134803.log.
  2. The log file from the MSI-file. This is the installation of the product specific features. Example name: Umetrics_SIMCA-Q_18_20240805134803_000_SIMCA_Q_18_x64.msi.log.

These files can then be sent to Sartorius support for analysis.

Customizing installations for deployment

The executable installation program can be customized and controlled on the command line. Learn more in Custom and silent installation MODDE, SIMCA and SIMCA-online (sartorius.com)
