SIMCA® 18.0.1

The SIMCA® software for multivariate data analysis by Umetrics® is part of Digital Solutions at Sartorius.

SIMCA 18.0.1 is a maintenance release for SIMCA 18 that also fixes issues found in earlier SIMCA versions. We recommend you always use the latest available version of SIMCA.

New features:

  • Support for preprocessing in SIMCA-QPe 2 with 1st and 2nd derivatives, Moving window, Savitzky-Golay, and Standard Normal Variate (SNV). Learn more in SIMCA®-QPe 2.
  • Improved import of Bruker OPUS files to handle files with different wavelengths. Learn more below.

Fixes:

  • Import of Bruker OPUS files could result in truncated data, and multiple files with different wavelengths became incompatible for use in SIMCA (learn more below)
  • SIMCA 17 could crash in certain circumstances as reported to support: import of data including ODBC, automatically recovered projects, network storage locations not being accessible, property pane including color by, saved workspaces in project files, non-western Unicode characters in Windows font names, Wavelet Power, add to report.
  • Generated variables using variables from other datasets was sometimes not supported.
  • Fixed: the bundled Python script for creating forecast models for SIMCA-online Control Advisor failed to work for single-phase projects that uses an explicit PhaseID column.
  • Some aspects of the licensing and activation experience have been improved.

Updated functionality for Bruker OPUS Interpolated files

In SIMCA 18.0.1 you can import Bruker OPUS files where wavelengths do not match perfectly between files. SIMCA uses linear interpolation when aligning the spectra, and can handle subsequent imports of more data as well. Do as follows:

Select the Bruker OPUS Interpolated file format in the Open dialog

  • For a new project, if you import multiple files at the same time, then all files are aligned with the first file using linear interpolation of spectral data.
  • For importing data to an existing project, the data is aligned with the first file that was used when creating the project.

If you don't want the data aligned with the first OPUS file, select the regular, non-interpolated, Bruker OPUS File format.

Projects created in version 18.0.0 and earlier

If the OPUS data was imported in SIMCA 18.0.0 or earlier, then the alignment precision is limited to the displayed spectral ID values. This sometimes causes a deviation in the aligned data compared to alignment using the original OPUS file spectral IDs. For full precision of future interpolation, the project should be recreated in SIMCA 18.0.1.

Version compatibility

  • 18.0.1 works with the same license as SIMCA® 18.
  • System requirements and other information in SIMCA 18  apply
