Celebrating Top Graduates at the Faculty of Business and Economics in Göttingen
Every year eight graduating students from the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Göttingen receive the Florenz Sartorius Award. Endowed with 1,000 euros for each graduate, the award recognizes exceptional academic achievements in four different fields of study (economics, business administration, business informatics and business education), the ceremony takes part at the bi-yearly graduation ceremony of the faculty. Additionally, two phd students are awarded for their excellent dissertations in business or economics.

More About the Man who is Eponymous with the Award
In 1870, Florenz Sartorius founded the "Feinmechanische Werkstatt F. Sartorius" (Precision Mechanical Workshop) in Göttingen at the age of 24. With his skilled craftsmanship and entrepreneurial instinct, he identified the needs of university as well as industry customers at an early stage. His company soon became internationally known for its innovative laboratory balances that helped to speed up the work of scientists.
