At Sartorius, we focus on six sustainability areas, each addressing different priorities, to structure and monitor our sustainability efforts. Together, they provide an overview of the topics that shape our sustainability approach and commitments.
Our Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Health and well-being are fundamental human rights and important indicators of sustainable development. Despite major advances in modern medicine, more than half of the world's population still has inadequate or no access to medical care.
Our technologies help to develop existing forms of biopharmaceuticals faster and manufacture them more cost-effectively, and enable new forms such as cell and gene therapies - so that more people have access to better medicine.

Sartorius’ sustainability performance is regularly assessed by ESG rating agencies. The results are incorporated into our activities for continuous improvement.
In addition, Sartorius AG is listed in the DAX ESG 50 sustainability index of Deutsche Börse. The index lists the leading 50 companies based on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) performance, market capitalization and sales revenue.

Since 2022, our sites are externally audited according to the standards of the PSCI, which promote sustainability along the pharmaceutical value chain.
Sartorius is a member of the Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association which aims to e.g. reduce waste through smart packaging technologies.
Sartorius is a member of The National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals.
Sartorius and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) have established the Sartorius-AI-Lab (SAIL) research laboratory.
Sartorius has been supporting a variety of projects by the medical aid organization action medeor e.V. on a continuous basis since 2015.
