Sartorius and the relief organization action medeor e.V. have a shared mission: improving access to healthcare. For nearly a decade, this partnership has contributed to driving impactful projects worldwide. This year, Sartorius’ Christmas donation supports the IMPACT project, which focuses on rural areas in three East-African countries.

In many rural areas across East Africa, basic healthcare is far from guaranteed. Clinics and hospitals often face severe shortages of trained personnel, medicines, and resources, leaving vulnerable populations at risk. A lack of pharmaceutical expertise can mean unsafe or ineffective treatments, improper dosages, and interruptions in care.
For communities in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, this healthcare gap isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s a daily struggle.
Using computers is also important in developing pharmaceutical knowledge.
A Christmas Gift with Purpose: Building a Healthier Future
As part of its “Donations instead of Gifts” initiative, Sartorius has dedicated this year´s Christmas donation to help address these challenges. The contribution of €60,000 supports action medeor’s IMPACT project (Improving Pharmaceutical Access through Continuous Training), which seeks to strengthen pharmaceutical expertise in healthcare facilities.
The IMPACT project is set to run until 2026, with a clear mission: to ensure rural populations in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda have consistent access to safe, high-quality medicines. It focuses on two critical areas:
Training Health Workers: Up to 120 healthcare professionals in 53 facilities will gain pharmaceutical knowledge to improve medicine procurement, stock management, and distribution.
Rational Use of Medicines: Training also ensures that medicines are dispensed correctly, helping patients understand their therapies and adhere to them independently.
Nine master trainers will also be educated to amplify the project’s reach, enabling continuous improvement across the healthcare systems in these regions.
A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
Over the past ten years, Sartorius’ partnership with action medeor has supported initiatives from Guatemala to Sierra Leone, always with the goal of improving healthcare where it’s most needed.
Dr. Angela Zeithammer, member of the board of directors at action medeor, underscores the significance of this collaboration: “The partnership with Sartorius is not only very reliable but also very special. We share the same goal—better health for more people. The IMPACT project demonstrates how training in pharmaceutical knowledge can lead to better healthcare, especially in rural areas.”
