Supply Chain Manager

We are looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join our team in Royston |near Cambridge|. You will have strong experience managing a supply chain team in an engineering manufacturing environment.

Our business is experiencing a high rate of growth and we are heavily investing into the expansion of our production sites globally. The site in Royston is manufacturing a number of leading automated instruments and their associated consumables for use in bioprocessing and pharmaceutical research. This is a position for an experienced, strategically and operationally minded Supply Chain Manager. You will be in charge of the entire supply chain operation at the site including the order intake, planning, purchasing, warehouse, goods-in/goods-out and supplier quality functions. You will be leading a team of fifty employees, closely collaborating with our engineering function and reporting directly to the site lead.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Leading and managing a team of functional managers

  • Delivering supply chain capacity according to sales forecast and lead time targets

  • Developing and negotiating supplier commercial agreements and monitoring their performance

  • Responsible for overall supplier quality performance

  • Overseeing, controlling and directing all activities across goods-in and goods-out functions, inventory and warehouse management, production and materials demand planning

  • Planning internal capacity requirements in collaboration with R&D design, manufacturing, quality and engineering

  • Initiating and delivering continuous improvement initiatives/projects and best practice processes

  • Delivering improvements to established KPI’s

  • Managing projects

  • Strong experience in managing a supply chain team in an engineering/manufacturing environment

  • Experienced in managing a multi-site operation

  • Outstanding leadership skills and ability to develop and support a growing team

  • Capable of co-operating with other operations or product development teams

  • Expert in forecasting and demand planning strategies

  • Background in working in a multi-product, mixed manufacturing environment

  • Previous experience of implementing new product introductions

  • Knowledge of inventory management and the financial implications of inventory plans

  • Knowledge of warehouse logistics and shipping best practices

  • Commercially astute with knowledge of supplier agreement best practices

  • Experience in running continuous improvement projects

  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing

  • Experienced in the creation, implementation and auditing of processes

  • Ability to work under pressure and balancing conflicting demands

  • Highly organised and capable of working within a large, international, matrix-based organisation

  • Expert in SAP | ERP

  • Effective problem solving and prioritisation skills
