SIMCA 18.1

SIMCA® is the Sartorius software for multivariate data analysis.

What's new in SIMCA 18.1:

  • SIMCA alarms compatible with SIMCA-online 18.x alarms. Specifying alarm groups, start and stop maturity and more, and visualize in charts how alarms will be triggered in SIMCA-online
  • Alarms from SIMCA to SIMCA-online and back: Work seamlessly with your alarm settings between SIMCA and SIMCA-online. Share from SIMCA to SIMCA-online and Update in SIMCA project to open current Alarms in SIMCA
  • New calibration transfer method, slope and bias adjustment for predicted Y data
  • New Extensions tab: for extensions developed by Sartorius. This feature allows you to import Sartorius packages to enhance the functionality of SIMCA, adding new buttons to the Extensions tab
  • Steady-state models: Easily set steady-state phases directly in the Workset dialog

Other improvements and changes:

  • Workset Summary page: previously named Finish, includes information regarding cropping and trimming. It is now also visible in 'Tabbed' mode.
  • Calibration and Filter wizards: the plots now support changing select and zoom tools using the mini toolbar, previously only possible outside of the wizard.
  • Installation command line proxy server support added
  • Python upgraded to 3.13
  • The Python script for creating SIMCA-online Control Advisor models has been updated
    • Handle phases with qualitative variables by ignoring them in the script (forecast cannot be created for qualitative because there is no batch level support for them)
    • Remove unnecessary checks. No longer needed since SIMCA-online now can handle generated variables, preprocessing generated variables and qualitative variables
  • Improved Python debugging in SIMCA
  • Removed Umetrics SimApis from the SIMCA setup program. To connect to data sources, the latest versions can be obtained on the SimApi web page.
  • Added a Support button in File > Help that shows the support web page www.sartorius.com/umetrics-support.

Trial version

A Trial version can be installed on a physical PC and runs for 30 days. After that, you need to activate a license to continue using it.

Obtaining a SIMCA 18.1 license

If you have a valid subscription or maintenance you are entitled to this upgrade, and it is automatically available in your My Sartorius account.

To purchase SIMCA 18.1, contact your sales representative, Contact us. After purchase you'll receive a delivery email with instructions on how to activate the license. Save a copy of the email as you might need it later if you reinstall the product or want to change the license. Learn more about licensing below.

Download

Download the trial software from the SIMCA product page.
Download released versions from My Sartorius after you have obtained a license.

Installation

Installation and activation are described in the ReadMe and Installation Guide.pdf in the downloaded zip. SIMCA runs on all modern PCs. See System requirements below.

About licensing

SIMCA needs a license to be functional after the 30 day Trial has expired.

The license specifies the available features in SIMCA and may also contain an expiry date after which the software stops working.

A PC with SIMCA can be licensed in three ways;

  • By providing an Activation ID and activating over the internet (or with an offline procedure). The same Activation ID may allow one or more activations.
  • Using an on-premises License Server that your organization manages. The license server assigns the license to SIMCA (an Activation ID is not used in SIMCA in this case). License usage is tracked by the license server.
  • Using a manually created license file provided by Sartorius. This is a rarely used fallback solution.

Learn about the license and manage it in SIMCA in File | Help. Contact your sales representative with any license questions.

Compatibility with earlier versions

SIMCA 18.1 saves project files in a forward compatible file format when no new functionality is used. This makes most project files compatible with previous releases of SIMCA-online, SIMCA-Q and SIMCA, even though you use the latest SIMCA 18.1 release to work with the project.

Features that require at least SIMCA 17 format are:

  • MovingAverage, AsLSBaselineCorrection, AsLSSmoothing, BaselineCorrectionLinear, BaselineCorrectionPeak, PeakHeightNormalization, PeakAreaNormalization
  • Derivatives and Savitzky-Golay with derivative order of Quartic or Quintic
  • EWMA with Symmetric weighting (which is now the default since SIMCA 17)

Features that require SIMCA 18 format are:

  • PCA steady state batch evolution models
  • Models with calibration transfer
  • Generated variables using qualitative variables
