MODDE® 13.1
MODDE 13.1 and MODDE-Q 13.1
The MODDE® software for Design of Experiments (DOE) by Umetrics® is part of Digital Solutions in Sartorius.
With MODDE 13.1 we introduce initial support for reading DOE projects in JSON-format from an upcoming version of Umetrics Studio - Sartorius cloud offering. The MODDE design recommendations have been updated to align what is communicated in Sartorius training courses for Design of Experiments. A lot of effort has gone into solving customer reported issues, including fixes for bugs and licensing problems. We recommend you always use the latest available version of MODDE.
New features:
- Initial support for importing designs and other data in JSON format from Umetrics Studio - Sartorius cloud offering
- Design wizard: the design recommendations have been improved for screening- and optimization objectives to align what is communicated in Sartorius training courses for Design of Experiments
- Design wizard: you can now control in which order the Factor and Response pages are displayed using the gear-button in the wizard
- Design wizard: Improved error handling when importing large designs
- UX improvements including a new web based help format that is easy to read on high-resolution screens
- Licensing improvements including proxy support, better error messages, and correct display of borrow time when using an on-premise license server

Fixes:
- Stability issues reported to Support have been fixed. This includes fixes for non-western Unicode characters in Windows font names, creating REDMUP designs with uncontrolled factors, and modifying factors and responses while the Optimizer window is open.
- Analysis wizard could hang MODDE when started on Citrix environment
- Fold over sometimes created empty runs for block factors
- Contour plots were displayed empty with multilevel factor in combination with constraints
- License could become invalid after activation with activation ID after losing internet connection
The information in this article also applies to MODDE-Q 13.1 which has most features of MODDE but is controlled from programmable Windows COM automation interfaces. This enables other applications to control MODDE to create new investigations and to view results from any existing investigation. Most functionality available in MODDE is also available in MODDE-Q including all designs, constraints, predictions and the optimizer. MODDE-Q can be embedded in OEM solutions that use the MODDE engine for custom AI- or ML solutions. Learn more at MODDE®-Q - Embedded Design of Experiments Software | Sartorius
Trial version
A Trial version can be installed on a physical PC and runs for 30 days. After that, you need to activate a license to continue using it.
Download
Download the trial software from the MODDE product page. Download released versions from My Sartorius after you have obtained a license.
Installation
Installation and activation are described in the ReadMe and Installation Guide.pdf in the downloaded zip. MODDE runs on all modern PCs. See System requirements below.
About licensing
MODDE needs a license to be functional after the 30 day Trial has expired.
The license specifies the available features and may also contain an expiry date after which the software stops working.
A MODDE 13.0.1 or 13.0.2 license can be used for 13.1. If your license allows a limited number of activations, first return the license in MODDE 13 before you activate MODDE 13.1.
MODDE can be licensed in three ways;
- By providing an Activation ID and activating over the internet (or with an offline procedure). The same Activation ID may allow one or more activations.
- Using an on-premises License Server that your organization manages. The license server assigns the license to MODDE (an Activation ID is not used in MODDE in this case). License usage is tracked by the license server.
- Using a manually created license file provided by Sartorius. This is a rarely used fallback solution.
Learn about the license and manage it in MODDE in File | Help. Contact your sales representative with any license questions.
Compatibility with earlier versions
MODDE 13.1 can be installed in parallel with MODDE 13 and earlier.
MODDE 13.1 and MODDE 13 use the same file format and are fully compatible.
MODDE 13.1 can open MODDE files from MODDE 5 and newer, but after saving the file in the new version, earlier versions than MODDE 13 cannot use it.
Release date
The version of this release is 13.1.0.687. Release date 2024-03-28.
