Job Application Tips for Puerto Rico
Marielle Pacheco, Talent Acquisition Expert at Yauco, provides insight into the application process in Puerto Rico and how candidates can prepare for their next job interview.
This article is posted on Sartorius Blog.
What does a typical application process in Puerto Rico look like?
Overall, the application process in Puerto Rico is similar to the process at other Sartorius sites: We ask candidates to apply through the Candidate Portal via the Sartorius website, followed by a screening and individualized interview process.
As with other U.S. locations, our application process is subject to federal regulations and guidelines. They ensure that all qualified candidates receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or veteran status for any vacancy we post.
If any questions arise during the application process, I would encourage candidates to take a look at our FAQ Page & Contact Channel, which is available on the Sartorius Careers website.
What do you look for in a job application? What is the most important document in an application?
Once a candidate has successfully submitted their application, I will usually go through a screening process to verify that their CV matches the job description of the open position and that they meet the requirements.
The CV is the most important document during the application process and is the place where you can summarize your relevant skills, qualities and experience, and outline why you are the best person for the job.
That is why I always recommend that your CV is up to date, well-organized, and tailored to the role you are applying for.

The first step of the application process is successful, and the candidate is invited for an interview. What is the best way to prepare for it?
The best advice for a candidate, who has made it through to the interview stage, is to research the company, the products, and the role you are applying for, and be prepared to ask questions. Recruiters and hiring managers appreciate it when candidates take the time to do their homework about the organization and come to the interview equipped with information about the business.
Additionally, if you are scheduled for a virtual interview, test your internet connection prior to the interview to ensure sufficient video quality. Furthermore, familiarize yourself with the platform on which the interview will take place and make sure there are no technical issues. If you are scheduled for a face-to-face interview, I suggest arriving early.
Do you have any expert advice for candidates during the job interview?
First impressions are important: be yourself and be confident. Make the interview a space for two-way conversation. Be prepared to answer questions about your competences, previous work, and educational experience.
If you have reached this stage, you are already a suitable candidate. Now it is time to prove to the hiring manager that you are the perfect fit for the job. Close the interview by asking for the following steps.
