From Basic P&IDs to Cost Calculations

After Conceptual Design the individual process steps can be defined within certain unit operations and the process flow drawn directly into a Process Flow Diagram (PFD) which is typically detailed during the Basic Engineering step. For the facility design, the process and related requirements are the main focus. The processing suites are designed around the process and not vice-versa.

Following on from the PFD, individual P&IDs for each process unit are drawn and the consumables defined. The consumables BOM (Bill of Material) provides a comprehensive overview and the individual design drawings specify all the details. Within this engineering phase all relevant documents are prepared leading to an AFD “Approved for Design” status.
