Thank you for your recent purchase of a Sartorius Cubis® II premium balance. As a preferred customer of our premium Cubis® II balance portfolio you are entitled to complimentary periodic software updates for the life of your instrument.  

To that end, we wish to inform you about a software update that is now available for your device.  To learn more about the enhancements included with this software update, along with instructions how to download and install the update on your balance, please proceed to download the software below.

How Do I Update the Software Now to Ensure the Optimal Functionality of My Cubis® II Balance?

Please Follow the Steps Below:

  1. Download the firmware package from our website by filling out the form below.
  2. Extract the zipped firmware package.
  3. Copy the files into the root directory of a USB drive or another connector.
  4. Login to the balance with the right to access the balance settings menu.
  5. Use the [Setup] button to open the menu for the settings of the balance.
  6. Navigate to menu [Device maintenance] -> [Update firmware].
  7. Select the connector for upload.
  8. The device shows all files found in a valid file format via the connector. Select the desired update file.
  9. The device displays a confirmation prompt with the selected file. To update the device now, select the [Continue] button.
  10. The device will now automatically start the update process. The file is transferred to the device, a data backup is stored on the internal memory and any necessary data structures are updated after the restart. This process may take several minutes depending on the available data. The balance must not be disconnected from the power supply during this time.
  11. To update the QApp Center log in at the balance again and access the settings.
  12. Navigate to menu [Device maintenance] -> [Update QAPP Center].
  13. The device displays a confirmation prompt with the selected file. To update the device now, select the [Continue] button.
  14. The device will now automatically start the update process. Wait until the update process is finished. Please note that a new task must be installed to use a new QApp version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only non-approved balances (S00 and S01) can be updated by users. Approved balances (CEU, ORU, CCN, OBR, OJP, CFR and OIN) must be updated by the Sartorius Service. Please check the type plate of your balance to get to know the approval.

You must own the access to the settings menu and the permission to update the instrument. Please check your role right settings.

The update of Cubis® II MCA balances takes approximately five minutes.

The upd files contain the firmware & checksum and the qappcenter files the QApp Center & checksum. Both software parts are updated separately.

No, balance settings are not changed by a firmware update.

Create a backup file (Backup device settings) from your balance before starting the update process and restore the device settings.

You can update them independently but please note that QApp software applications require a minimum firmware version.

The firmware package contains release notes listing all changes/modifications.

In the release notes recommendations are given if the balance should be re-qualified or not after a firmware update.
