Frequently Asked Questions

Wet-strengthened papers are made for vacuum or pressure filtration. Due to their wet strength, they do not release any fibers. They are also revered for their mechanical and chemical resistance levels.

To produce quantitative papers, the high-quality raw materials (cotton linters with 98 % of alpha-cellulose content) are treated to reduce mineral content and therefore get an ignition residue of 0.01 %.

Qualitative papers are also made of high-quality raw materials (refined pulp & linters with 95 % of alpha-cellulose content) but without any reduction of mineral content. Their ignition residue is 0.1 %.

Quantitative and qualitative papers are mostly used in analytics due to their quality.

Qualitative and technical papers can be used in analytics for pre-filtration steps but predominantly cover technical filtration.

No, there is no relation between the weight of a paper and its filtration capacities. You can define filtration parameters of a paper over the thickness and length of the fibers (grinding time of the raw material). A 100 g/m² paper can get the same filtration rate than a 65 g/m² paper.

Filter papers are depth filters made of fibers with an irregular structure. Their depth structure allows retention of different particle sizes not only on the surface of the filter but also in its structure. A filter paper can only be defined by the capacity to retain a certain particle size. As there is no standard of how to define particle retention of a depth filter, the comparison between filters is valid only with filters tested with the same test method.
