Sartorius is expanding its production capabilities in Slovenia with an extended area for manufacturing and labs in Ajdovscina. The area for manufacturing and labs will increase from 3,000 square meters to 6,200 square meters.

The expanded site will enhance the development and manufacturing for purification and analysis of large biomolecules, such as viruses, plasmids and mRNA. It will particularly enhance Sartorius' unique offering for the manufacturing of gene therapies and other advanced therapies. The ribbon cutting ceremony on May 28, 2021 was attended by the the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, and the Ajdovscina Town Mayor Tadej Beočanin.

In November 2020, Sartorius acquired the Slovenian purification specialist BIA Separations in Ajdovscina. All portfolios represent an excellent fit, adding best-in-class technology for simplifying drug discovery and advancing bioprocessing to Sartorius’ already strong offering. The teams involved look forward to combining capabilities and serving their biopharma and life science customers together.

Sartorius expects continuous strong growth for the current fiscal year and beyond. To support this growth, and to ensure delivery reliability also going forward, we have started to accelerate and extend the expansion of our production capacities very significantly in all geographies, the Americas, Europe, and Asia. By 2025, Sartorius will more than double capacities for key product groups.
