Part of the Solution: How Software Experts Help Digitize Bioprocesses
The Sartorius Campus in Bangalore, India, is situated about 30 kilometers outside the city. The 12,000 m² production site with its picturesque gardens is home to more than 600 people who take care of manufacturing bioreactors and syringe filters as well as the respective components for biopharma production and life science research. Additionally, in downtown Bangalore, another Sartorius team of around 50 software experts work together in co-working spaces to digitize bioprocessing.

A Sense of Purpose and Holistic Contribution
As Head of Software Application Reliability, Adarsh leads the software team in India. There are two things that are particularly special to him at Sartorius. Firstly, the company’s purpose: “I see my personal value in bringing digitalization to our biopharma customers, so that they can produce effective medicines faster and save more people’s lives. This purpose has been driving me from day one.”

And secondly, making a holistic contribution to this purpose. At the site outside Bangalore, the local software development team can literally see the software go into the systems and instruments for the global biopharma industry. “For a software developer, there's a strong sense of achievement in building a holistic understanding of a product including its hardware, software, and processes from concept design to commissioning. It requires a strong learning curve, and you need to be ambitious. But it’s definitely worth it.”

In addition to being close to operations, the team is also closely connected with around 100 IT colleagues at the site. “Through this we are able to create additional, valuable synergies.”
