Utilities package QP3

The Utility software application package contains weighing applications and function extensions such as bootscreen, color scheme, free formula, fiber coarseness, diameter determination, air buyoancy correction, paper weight, statistics and printing of QR | bar codes.

QApps included in the Utilities package (QP3):

Color Scheme (QAPP301)

Color Scheme

This function extension enables the color scheme of the user interface to be selected. There are five different default settings to choose from.
The color scheme can be selected in the Settings menu under Device settings/Display parameters.

Diameter Determination (QAPP304)

Diameter Determination

This application is used to determine the diameter of round wires and metal threads (cylindrical solid bodies) based on the density and length of the samples. The density and length must be known and entered by the user. The density of the sample can be determined, for example, with the application Density of solids or Density of solids with statistics (QAPP200). The application uses the following calculation:

  • Diameter = 2 * SQR ( W / (PI * l * Rho / 1000) | d = diameter of sample in mm (0.001 ... 9.999mm), SQR = square root, W = weight value in grams, PI  = 3.1415926.., l = length of sample in mm (1 ... 999999 mm), Rho = density of sample in g/cm3 (0.001 ... 29.999 g/cm³)

Paper Weight (QAPP305)

Paper Weight

This application determines the area of irregularly cut pieces of paper if the grammage of the respective paper type is known or determines the grammage of the respective paper type if the area of paper (e.g. A4, A5, ..) is known. The application is using the following formulas:

  • Paper area = weight value W in g * 10000 / grammage in g/m2
  • Paper grammage = weight value W in g * 10000 / paper area in cm2

Air Buoyancy Correction (QAPP306)

Air Buoyancy Correction

This application corrects weighing errors that can arise due to air buoyancy when working with weights of different densities. The air density value is required when calculating the air buoyancy correction. The application uses the following formulas:

  • m = W * K | m = mass of the sample, unit symbol “g”, W = weight value in grams, K = correction factor
  • K = (1  (RhoL / RhoST)) / (1  (RhoL / RhoG)) |RhoL = air density in g/cm3, RhoST = density of steel, RhoG = density of sample

Statistics, Manual (QAPP307)

Statistics, Manual

This application manually takes over weight values of samples and statistically evaluates them. The number of components, average mean weight, standard deviation, variation coefficient, sum of all weight values, lowest weight value (min.), highest weight value (max.) and difference between min. and max. are shown as the result. The application uses the following calculations:

  • Sum of all weight values: sum = ( n * initValue ) + sumComp | sumComp = sumComp + addValue; addValue = x comp. - initValue; initValue = first comp.
  • Average mean weight: avg = initValue + ( sumComp / n )
  • Standard deviation: dev = sqrt ((n * sum2Comp - sumComp * sumComp) / (n * (n-1))) | sum2Comp = sum2Comp + (addValue * addValue)
  • Variation coefficient: var = abs (dev / avg * 100)
  • Difference between min. and max.: diff. = max. – min.

Statistics, Automatic (QAPP308)

Statistics, Automatic

This application automatically takes over weight values of samples and statistically evaluates them. The number of components, average mean weight, standard deviation, variation coefficient, sum of all weight values, lowest weight value (min.), highest weight value (max.) and difference between min. and max. are shown as the result. The application uses the following calculations:

  • Sum of all weight values: sum = ( n * initValue ) + sumComp | sumComp = sumComp + addValue; addValue = x comp. - initValue; initValue = first comp.
  • Average mean weight: avg = initValue + ( sumComp / n )
  • Standard deviation: dev = sqrt ((n * sum2Comp - sumComp * sumComp) / (n * (n-1))) | sum2Comp = sum2Comp + (addValue * addValue)
  • Variation coefficient: var = abs (dev / avg * 100)
  • Difference between min. and max.: diff = max. – min.
