We are looking for a Senior Scientist Process Automation (x|w|m) for the Process Automation department at Sartorius Stedim Systems GmbH. We are looking for a pragmatic, hands-on technical leader who enjoys combining deep Siemens PLC expertise with technical ownership and leadership in complex process automation environments to shape Sartorius' future in process automation and make a real impact in the industry.

  • You take the lead in designing and implementing process automation assets for our modular automation platform based on Siemens PLC and WinCC OA technology

  • Translating process requirements into robust automation architectures, control concepts, and software designs is part of your daily work

  • You review and verify functional and design specifications to ensure quality and compliance

  • Acting as a hands-on technical authority, you contribute directly to PLC programming, including code creation, review, and approval

  • You mentor and guide automation engineers and developers, fostering technical excellence within the team

  • Working closely with project managers, you help ensure end‑to‑end solution viability and successful delivery

  • Your support for project planning includes effort estimation and technical risk management

 

What will convince us

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Science; a Ph.D. is considered a plus

  • With at least five years of industry experience in process automation or related fields, you bring extensive expertise

  • Your deep understanding of process automation and related standards such as ISA‑95 and ISA‑88 sets you apart

  • You have demonstrated technical leadership within product development projects, including stakeholder management

  • A strong proficiency in Siemens PLCs and programming in Structured Control Language (SCL) using TIA Portal is expected

  • You are familiar with computer systems validation practices (GAMP)

  • An understanding of TOGAF principles complements your skill set

  • Experience in upstream and downstream bioprocessing is advantageous, though not required
