Customer information regarding the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)
Göttingen, February 6, 2020
Regarding the spread of coronavirus in China and the uncertainties entailed, we would like to provide information on the situation of our operations in China. Sartorius operates a production site in Beijing that serves the Chinese and APAC markets and is backed by European operations. Our head office for sales and service activities is located in Shanghai, and we do not have any offices in Wuhan or in the Hubei province. As requested by the central and local Chinese authorities, the Lunar New Year holidays have been extended to February 9, and we expect our Beijing site to resume operations as of February 10, while our office employees in Shanghai are asked to work from home.
Based on our existing safety stock levels, we do not anticipate any delays in product deliveries at this time. Logistics are being continuously monitored, though they are obviously not completely in our hands as we see airfreight increasingly impacted and border closures for various Asian countries. Your local Customer Service contact will inform you as soon as possible should your delivery situation change. At this stage, however, there is no need to alter your normal ordering pattern.
With respect to our employees and business partners, we have implemented measures to prevent infection, such as by postponing business trips to and inside all areas of China for the next few weeks. We have also set up an Emergency Management Team to work on maintaining the supply of materials that are currently difficult to procure in China.
We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide an update should any major new developments occur. If you have any further questions or concerns about the matter above, please do not hesitate to contact your local Sartorius Customer Service.
