Process analysers as inline and online measurement technologies provide real-time data for outstanding process control, which results in high-quality production. Thorough monitoring by process analysers with up to 100% coverage of process parameters and subsequent documentation ensures optimal compliance. Moreover, monitoring makes transactions verifiable and establishes a basis of trust between suppliers and customers.
The probe operates on a transmittance principle using IR light to track total biomass. It is a tool to increase microbial fermentation yield by maximizing the use of nutrients, gases and other critical parameters. The system reduces the cost associated with 24-hour sampling and removes inconsistent off-line analysis. The BioPAT® Fundalux comes integrated into our BioPAT® DCU and automatic data conversion to optical density can be achieved with BioPAT® MFCS.
BioPAT® Spectro NIR process sensor monitors the fermentation process inline by providing real-time feedback. Monitoring the process values during biotechnological fermentation is crucial for maintaining the high efficiency and quality of a bioprocess. Although commercial sensor systems are available for real-time monitoring of some variables, such as pH or the concentration of dissolved oxygen, BioPAT® Spectro provides monitoring capabilities that are light years beyond such sensor systems.
BioPAT® Trace is an analysis system for simultaneous online monitoring of glucose and lactate in laboratory and industrial cultivations of microorganisms and cell lines. BioPAT® Trace ensures a high degree of measurement performance and process reliability due to its unique combination of a reusable analyser and single-use enzymatic sensors and fluidic elements.
Automated Biomass Measurement Using BioPAT® ViaMass BioPAT®
ViaMass is a system for measuring viable biomass in cell culture processes. Unlike known reference methods, this system is completely integrated into single-use bioreactors. It determines the biomass directly in line, reducing the need for manual sampling. Integrated into the bioreactor’s DCU control system, BioPAT® ViaMass permits automatic monitoring and control of viable biomass.
- Reduces the need for manual sampling
- Real-time measurement of and feedback on viable biomass
- Ensures batch-to-batch consistency
- Eliminates operator influence that occurs in manual biomass measurements
Manufactured under the Licence of Hamilton.
The BioPAT® Xgas monitors and controls bioprocesses in real time. It is a combined oxygen-carbon dioxide sensor featuring automatic compensation of humidity and pressure. The range for oxygen is 1 - 50% and for carbon dioxide 0 - 10%, with ±3% accuracy on the reference value and a difference of less than ±0.2% on the reading. The sensor is non-invasive and can be conveniently integrated onto a new Sartorius Stedim bioreactor exhaust line or your current system.
Near infrared spectrometers (NIR spectrometers) enable simultaneous measurement of chemical compounds and physical properties. Designed for process control, Sartorius NIR process analysers can be used in a wide range of applications, such as monitoring and control of mixing and inline dilution processes, determination of homogeneity and of the end point, as well as recipe management and ingredient optimisation.
Process Analytical Technology (PAT)
Process Analytical Technology (PAT) is much more than just one sensor integrated into a process. It is a risk-based strategy for designing, analysing and controlling manufacturing processes. PAT offers a number of tools for measuring and controlling critical process parameters. Discover more about Process Analytical Technology on our PAT microsite.
