Mechanistic Modeling

Modeling of cell culture systems through hybrid modeling

There are many types of models to explain upstream biological processes. Monod kinetic models are good at explaining dynamics of growth and death, and data driven methods such as machine learning are useful in describing intracellular behaviour. Integrating these two modeling approaches into a comprehensive hybrid cell culture model where a Monod based set of models track the number of viable cells and a separate data driven model focuses on how these cells are behaving. For example, are these cells driven towards maximizing growth (biomass), producing a target protein, producing a protein of desired quality or some other activity. These models may be used for simulating response to various operating conditions, optimizing production systems or for advanced control.
