Manager of Viral Vector Development (m|f|d)

For our Product Development group in the newly created Cell Line, Media and Testing Solutions unit, we are looking for a Manager of Viral Vector Development (m|f|d) based in Ulm (Sartorius Stedim Cellca GmbH). In this position, you will be responsible for the execution of the development roadmap for Viral Vector Process Development overseeing all projects defined and launched in your team. The goal of your position is to deliver all application innovations on time and within budget.

What you will accomplish together with us

  • Lead a dynamic lab team of  scientists and technicians to develop new platforms for the production of viral vectors
  • Built up lab infrastructure and expand team skills to deliver state at-the art methods regarding rAAV vector production, analytics and development of stable rAAV production  cell lines (e.g. HEK)
  • Plan, review and deliver development projects and allocate team resources according to project priories
  • Represent PD in interdisciplinary matrix teams and scientific conferences and network with internal and external partners in different biopharma fields

What will convince us

  • Ph.D. biology, virology, biochemistry or biotechnology with a strong background related to cell line development
  • Several years of industrial experience related to Adeno Associated Virus (AAV) or Leukemia Virus (LV) production
  • Project experience in, cell culture (especially HEK, Vero or MDCK suspension cells) is a plus
  • Strong knowledge in project management and ability to prioritize team activities across projects in a dynamic matrix setting​
  • Previous leadership experience would be advantageous
  • Open mindedness for innovation and new ways of working (agile etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and German
