Andreas Dengel

Andreas Dengel is a leading expert on machine learning, pattern recognition, immersive quantified learning, data mining, and semantic technologies.

The recipient of the 2018 NVIDIA Pioneer Award at the International Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference in Salt Lake City, USA, Dengel has also received the Pioneer Spirit and Cebit Innovation awards for two of the numerous successful startups that he founded and mentored. In 2015, he was named the “Founding Promoter of the Year.”

Dengel holds professorships at the Computer Science Department of the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany (since 1993), and at the Department of Computer Science and Intelligent Systems at the Osaka Prefecture University in Japan (since 2009).

Dengel has authored more than 500 scientific publications, written and edited 14 books, and regularly chairs international conferences. For his academic achievements, Dengel received Germany’s prestigious scientific award called the Alcatel/SEL Award on Technical Communication.
